3 weeks ago 0

Singer Celine Dion performed during the opening concert of her ‘Celine Dion Paris 2026’ residency at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris. The event took place on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Dion took to the stage nearly four years after revealing her struggles with a rare and painful condition.

Dion, originally from Canada, commenced her 16-show residency in Paris with the French song “On Ne Change Pas,” meaning “we don’t change” in English. She was visibly emotional, with tears in her eyes as she finished the performance. “I had promised myself not to cry,” Dion confessed to the audience, as reported by Variety. She expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much for coming. If you’re visiting Paris for the first time, I hope you fall in love with it as I did. It’s wonderful that we’re all together. I vowed to return to the stage, and here I am, singing live for you and for me!”

Online videos show Dion dressed in a black gown, her hair styled in a bun, as she sang her hits “Because You Loved Me” and “Power of Love.” She also performed “My Heart Will Go On,” the iconic song from “The Titanic” movie soundtrack.

A couple of hours prior to the show, Dion shared a photo on her Instagram Story, where she smiled and stood before fans, hands raised, with the message “En route!”

Dion, hailing from Quebec, a French-speaking area in Canada, is greatly cherished in France. Her concerts have sold out, and they are expected to generate substantial revenue for the region.

In 2022, the Grammy award-winning artist disclosed her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition causing rigidity in limbs and severe muscle spasms. She had shared on social media how the condition impacts her daily life, occasionally making it challenging to walk and hindering her vocal performance.

Her previous concert tour faced interruptions in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dion last performed at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony in July 2024.
