Challenges in Women’s Health During the Trump Administration

1 month ago 0

The publication The Nation, established in 1865 by abolitionists, has long been a strong and progressive voice covering political and cultural developments. In recent years, the focus on women’s health has gained prominence due to concerning trends.

Under the Trump administration, conditions for women’s health have worsened. America now sees women dying from preventable causes more than in any other developed nation. Maternal mortality rates are especially alarming, showing significant disparities that affect Black women more severely.

Additionally, funding limitations present a hurdle. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has reduced grants focusing on inequalities related to race, sex, or gender. Proposals are even restricted in using terms like “women” and “diversity,” which further complicates efforts to address these pressing issues.
