An American Airlines flight turned chaotic Sunday morning as a passenger reportedly bit another traveler and attempted to fight others onboard. This incident took place on Flight 3046, which was approaching Philadelphia International Airport after departing from Charlotte, North Carolina.
An audio recording reviewed by Fox News Digital illustrates the pilot alerting air traffic control about the escalating situation with the unruly passenger. The pilot stated, “He just bit a passenger, and he’s trying to fight everybody.”
Upon landing, the flight was met by medical personnel and law enforcement, ready to handle the situation. The pilot mentioned uncertainty regarding the incident’s cause. He speculated the passenger might have been facing a mental health crisis and recommended law enforcement presence to support emergency medical teams as a precaution.
The airline confirmed Monday that the passenger experienced a medical emergency. They were aided by a medical professional onboard before the flight landed. Upon arrival, additional medical staff assisted the affected passenger.
“Medical personnel met American Airlines flight 3046 at the gate for a customer experiencing a medical emergency,” the company stated. “We appreciate the actions of our team members and the medical professional on board who assisted the customer as the flight arrived safely at Philadelphia (PHL).”
The dialogue between the pilot and air traffic control concluded with some lightheartedness. The controller wished the pilot a happy Father’s Day, to which the pilot responded, “What a day, huh? I’ll be sure to tell my daughters about this one.”
