Child Injured by Stray Bullet in Detroit Expected to Recover

A young boy named Kaizer was injured by a stray bullet while riding his bike outside his home in Detroit. Thankfully, he has been released from the hospital and doctors expect him to recover fully.

The incident occurred on a Tuesday evening on Lindsay Street near Trojan Avenue, close to Fargo-Oakfield Park on the city’s west side. Kaizer was riding near his driveway when the unexpected gunfire disrupted the calm.

“He just fell on the ground out of nowhere,” his father recounted.

The child initially believed he had been hit by a firework.

“He was screaming, ‘A firecracker hit me’,” his father said. “I couldn’t tell what happened at first. Then I saw blood running down his arm. I ripped my shirt off and tried to keep him calm.”

Quickly, his father rushed him to a nearby hospital. Kaizer received treatment and was released by Wednesday afternoon.

During a news conference, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison explained that investigators think a masked teenager was responsible for the shooting. The police described Kaizer as an innocent bystander who fell victim to an act of violence.

On Wednesday afternoon, detectives detained the teenager thought to be involved. The police are still searching for at least one more suspect. Details regarding the suspects or charges remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.

Kaizer’s father expressed disbelief and a sense of divine intervention.

“I know God was watching over him,” he said. “I just can’t believe somebody would bring a gun to a park where innocent children are playing.”
