Christina Applegate recently shared on her podcast “MeSsY” with Jamie-Lynn Sigler that she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Applegate, known for her role in “Married… with Children,” originally announced in 2021 that she was dealing with MS, a neurological disease that can be debilitating.
In a recent episode, Applegate expressed uncertainty about her health after her doctor informed her that she does not have MS. She mentioned being back at square one, without understanding what is causing her symptoms. “I don’t know what’s going on with me,” Applegate stated during the podcast.
Applegate and Sigler began their podcast in March 2024, focusing on their experiences with MS. Two years prior, medical tests had indicated that Applegate had a disease affecting her nerve coverings, similar to Sigler’s. However, her physician recently said, “Congratulations. You don’t have MS.”
While the news might sound positive, Applegate feels unsure. She remarked, “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I’m better,” noting her condition worsened in some aspects.
Applegate continues to experience MS symptoms without knowing their cause. She worries about disappointing supporters who related to her situation and feels she may have lost her motivator for being an MS activist.
Applegate recently shared video footage of her in good spirits post a four-month hospital stay. However, she has voiced concerns about contemplating mortality, having arranged her burial plots, as noted in an NPR interview.
