Cristiano Ronaldo Contemplates Retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo, renowned as one of the top soccer players globally, disclosed that this upcoming season could mark the end of his playing career. In a conversation with Vogue, the 41-year-old Portuguese icon revealed that he might be approaching his final year in football.

Recently, Ronaldo tied the knot with his long-time partner, Georgina Rodríguez. This change might signify his desire to focus on family life.

Currently, Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Since joining the team in 2023, he has scored 102 goals over 107 matches. In addition, Ronaldo participated in his sixth World Cup with the Portuguese national team. Although he aspired to secure the trophy, Portugal lost to Spain 1-0 in the Round of 16.

Ronaldo’s journey with Portugal seems to have concluded, with his World Cup performances including 11 goals in 27 matches. In total, he has amassed 146 goals in 233 appearances for Portugal.

He expressed his ambition to “leave a spectacular legacy,” and his career reflects this aspiration. With a future filled with possibilities beyond soccer, Ronaldo shared his plans.

I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one.

He mentioned interests such as traveling, playing padel, and enjoying his accumulated achievements, underscoring his 25-year commitment and sacrifice to the sport.

The upcoming season for Ronaldo and Al-Nassr begins on Tuesday. If this season is indeed his last, his final match is slated for May 28, 2027.
