During a recent press conference, Dabo Swinney, the head coach of the Clemson Tigers, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current trends in college football. He highlighted the issue of programs, including LSU, recruiting former NFL players for the upcoming 2026 season.
Swinney described the situation as “embarrassing,” emphasizing that such actions take advantage of the system. He stated, “Honestly, it’s embarrassing that’s where we are. I don’t blame the kids, but people trying to take advantage of the system. It’s embarrassing, but we’ve been there for a while.”
He added, “No pun intended but we’re just going to stay in our lane.” The comment appeared to be a direct jab at Lane Kiffin, who Clemson is set to play against this weekend.
Interestingly, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum, who often disagrees with Swinney, sided with him on this matter. Finebaum remarked on “Get Up,” saying, “I don’t think I’ve agreed with Dabo Swinney in ten years on anything. He’s 100% right, and almost everyone in college football agrees with him that does not live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.”
Clemson will face off against LSU at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
