1 month ago 0

Recently released 911 calls provide a vivid account of the tragic shooting at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival. These recordings capture the intense response as first responders rushed to aid numerous individuals affected by the incident.

Frantic 911 Calls

One caller, who had been shot in the back, informed the dispatcher, “I’m losing blood.” The individual was unaware of who had fired the shot. As police officers arrived, the caller noted, “I see the officers down here,” while the dispatcher attempted to calm the victim by saying, “It’s OK. Just breathe. Breathe with me. I’m going to stay with you.” Moments later, the caller mentioned being with an officer at the scene.

Emergency Response Challenges

Other emergency transmissions revealed the challenges faced by dispatchers and first responders. “Multiple people down at this point,” said one dispatcher when asked if anyone had been shot. As information continued to unfold, another dispatcher requested support, indicating more aid units were needed. Initially, emergency teams treated the location as an active crime scene while assessing if it was safe for responders to enter. A dispatcher confirmed “six confirmed gunshot wounds” during the chaotic response.

Investigation Developments

The Seattle police have provided minimal public updates on the investigation. Interim Police Chief Andre Sayles disclosed that investigators had gathered new information but refrained from sharing specific details to preserve the investigation’s integrity. As of now, a 15-year-old suspect remains in custody.

Details of the Incident

The shooting took place last month outside the Seattle Center Armory during the Bite of Seattle food festival, near the iconic Space Needle. Authorities reported three fatalities, including a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman who later succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Four others were wounded, including a 2-year-old boy.

“An act of horrific violence,” Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson termed the incident. She expressed that families are enduring unbearable moments, while the community grapples with understanding how a festival meant for joy ended in tragedy.

Officials suspect the 15-year-old fired into the crowd, though the investigation is ongoing. The teen faces charges of gun violations and first-degree assault, though no homicide charges are filed yet.

Possible Shooting Dynamics

Former Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes suggested that gunfire erupted between small groups outside the Armory. Initially, it was believed that two gunmen were involved, but further court documents indicated the detained teen and an acquaintance, deceased at the scene, might have exchanged fire with an unidentified suspect.

Fox News Digital sought comments from the Seattle Police Department and the mayor’s office regarding the incident.
