Devastating Earthquake in Colombia: Hospitals Struggle Amidst Crisis

More than 84 hospitals in western Colombia have reported damages, significantly increasing pressure on the remaining health facilities. The recent earthquake has severely impacted the region’s healthcare capacity.

In the aftermath of the quake, patients have been evacuated from hospitals across the area. This includes those affected in Cali, Colombia, where emergency response efforts are in full swing.

Santiago Saldarriaga, a photographer with AP, captured images of the scene as affected individuals were moved to safer locations. The tremor struck on Monday, causing extensive structural damage and chaos throughout the region.

The earthquake has resulted in at least 241 fatalities and thousands more injured. Rescuers are urgently working to find anyone who might be trapped under collapsed buildings. The search and rescue operations are crucial as more than 5,000 individuals have been reported missing since the disaster.

Efforts are ongoing, with teams racing against time to provide relief and medical attention to those affected by the devastating quake.
