Dusty May Set to Join Dallas Mavericks as Head Coach

1 week ago 0

Dallas Mavericks are on the verge of appointing Dusty May as their new head coach. May is poised to transition from the collegiate level, where he recently led the Michigan Wolverines to win the NCAA championship.

According to a source, who requested anonymity, May’s agreement with the Mavericks is not yet finalized. Earlier this year, the Wolverines secured a victory against UConn, ending their remarkable season with a record of 34-3. Notably, Michigan started the NCAA Tournament by achieving a rare feat—scoring at least 90 points in five consecutive games. This success comes just three years after May guided Florida Atlantic to their first Final Four appearance. In 2024, the Owls returned to the NCAA tournament, setting the stage for May’s tenure at Michigan.

May will be stepping in to replace Jason Kidd, who parted ways with the Mavericks. This change follows Masai Ujiri’s recent appointment as president of basketball operations and alternate governor of the team.
