Egyptian television host Sarah Khalifa has been sentenced to death by hanging due to her involvement in a significant drug case. This case has implicated numerous suspects in creating an organized criminal network for manufacturing and trafficking synthetic drugs.
Khalifa, along with 11 other defendants, faces execution for allegedly importing materials essential for drug production. Capital punishment in Egypt for civilian convictions involves execution by hanging.
Khalifa is known for her roles as a TV personality, beauty clinic owner, and as a former host on several Egyptian TV channels. She previously hosted the crime show ‘Mission Impossible.’ As of now, she has over 2.5 million Instagram followers.
The investigation led to her arrest in Cairo in April 2025, as reported by local outlets.
A total of 28 individuals were implicated in this case, accused of forming a criminal group that also possessed unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The prosecution stated the group functioned as a production and distribution network, assigning roles ranging from importing raw materials to manufacturing and distributing synthetic drugs.
During the investigation, over 750 kilograms of synthetic drugs and raw materials were seized.
The case involved evidence from 20 witnesses, along with technical and digital evidence such as messages, photographs, and videos documenting the alleged criminal activities.
Authorities have imposed precautionary measures on the defendants’ assets and bank accounts, detaining those in custody throughout the investigation.
