SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has indicated the possibility of legal action against Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California. This announcement follows Khanna’s recent criticisms of Musk’s actions as the head of what he terms the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Khanna’s Call for Accountability
During an appearance on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, Khanna urged the Democratic Party to pursue accountability measures against Musk. He stated that if the Democrats reclaim power in Congress, they should investigate Musk for allegedly negative impacts of his policies. Khanna emphasized that while Musk is celebrated for creating numerous millionaires, he should be held responsible for the alleged deaths of children worldwide due to cuts Musk purportedly made to USAID programs.
Khanna remarked, “Once we take power, accountability is necessary. We cannot ignore the consequences of his actions with DOGE.”
Musk’s Response
Musk addressed Khanna’s comments through social media, describing them as lies. He asserted that DOGE’s policies only aimed to confirm the legitimacy of aid recipients. Musk also highlighted multiple instances where USAID officials faced legal charges, which he claims validates DOGE’s operations.
“The claims are baseless,” Musk wrote, “The purpose of DOGE was transparency and to prevent fraud under the guise of aid.” Musk further accused Khanna of engaging in stock trading practices he deemed dubious.
Khanna’s Retort
In a video response, Khanna countered Musk’s threats by defending his stance. He underscored his record of challenging influential figures and expressed willingness to debate the issues rather than being intimidated by legal threats.
Khanna stated, “I’m not afraid to debate these issues. I have consistently stood up against powerful entities and will continue to do so.”
Khanna also reiterated his past actions against prominent figures and organizations as evidence of his dedication to public service and his refusal to be silenced.
