Emmy Rossum Stars in Hulu’s New Series ‘Furious’

1 week ago 0

Furious, a new series on Hulu, features Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black. The show, created by Elizabeth Meriwether, is inspired by the 1987 film Black Widow where Debra Winger played an investigator chasing a female serial killer. Furious transforms this inspiration with unpredictable twists and complex characters.

In the show, Rossum’s character navigates tense relationships, even clashing with her boss, played by Danny McCarthy. Her primary focus is Lola Petticrew’s elusive character, a potential serial murderer. As their cat-and-mouse game unfolds, surprises keep the audience engaged.

The killer’s interactions often take unexpected turns, revealing layers beneath her deadly facade. One interaction at a party leads to a suspenseful build-up with her wealthy lawyer victim, played by Rob Delaney.

Alongside them is Quincy Tyler Bernstine as Nora, Alice’s insightful superior, adding depth to the narrative. The male cast, including Scoot McNairy and Jake Lacy, provide strong performances, enhancing the series’ dynamic.

The series explores broader themes through Nora’s interest in Greek mythology, painting figures like Medusa and The Furies as victims rather than villains. This backdrop enriches the plot, especially as the murderer’s past reveals a connection to a sex trafficking ring.

The interactions between the fugitive and her hunter crescendo mid-series, driving Furious into intense and unfamiliar territory. Despite its origins, Furious stands as an original thriller, reimagining its inspirational source while carving its own path.
