Explosion in Moscow Restaurant Leaves Three Dead

An explosion at a restaurant in central Moscow resulted in the deaths of three people on Saturday. Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee identified the cause as a homemade explosive device.

The fatalities included a woman who tried to carry the device into the restaurant, a security guard, and a customer, as reported by Russian state news agency RIA Novosti. In addition to the deceased, 21 individuals sustained injuries.

The incident took place around 8 p.m. at a ground floor terrace restaurant located at Kudrinksaya Square. This area is known for its seven skyscrapers constructed during the Stalin era.

According to a Russian news outlet, the blast occurred at the Balzi Rossi Italian restaurant. The restaurant’s website indicated it was closed for a private event on Saturday.

Authorities, including heavily armed law enforcement, were present at the scene following the blast.
