Prediction markets, traditionally used for betting on sports and political events, are now attracting Swift’s fans. These fans are wagering large amounts, exceeding $2 million, on the location of the couple’s nuptials. Jonathan Cohen, gambling policy expert at the American Institute for Boys and Men, noted, “Prediction markets are filling this void in our society of turning every single thing into a gambling contract.” This trend has seen increased betting when celebrities plan to marry.

An application filed at New York City Hall suggests Madison Square Garden as a possible venue for Swift and Kelce’s wedding celebration. This information was verified by CBS News last week. Furthermore, sightings of trucks labeled “Garden Party” at MSG have fueled increased speculation about potential events on July 3.

The betting hub Kalshi reports that bets on the prospective wedding have totaled more than $4.5 million. As of early Tuesday, Jason Kelce, brother of Travis Kelce, is overwhelmingly favored as a groomsman, with a 94% likelihood. Other picks include Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. For bridesmaids, Swift’s childhood friend Abigail Anderson Berard leads predictions at 85%.

Entertainment betting has seen substantial growth. Kalshi’s data indicates $600 million in trading on entertainment markets this year, which is twice the amount observed in 2025. There has also been a notable increase in female traders using the platform, doubling over the past year. Cohen remarked on this trend, suggesting that events centered around female celebrities like Swift might encourage more participation from female fans in a traditionally male-dominated betting space.
