Chicago police reported the arrest of a man following the discovery of a fatally stabbed woman in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m., with the victim found on the ground in the 7300 block of South Emerald Avenue. She had suffered a stab wound to the neck.
The woman was transported to UChicago Medicine but was pronounced dead upon arrival. During the investigation, officers patrolled the area and located a man on a nearby porch. He was found with a sharp object in his hand and had sustained a stab wound to his right arm.
The injured man was also taken to UChicago Medicine, where he remains in critical condition. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and authorities have taken the man into custody as they continue their investigation.
