FBI Expands Investigation into Fulton County’s 2020 Election

57 minutes ago 0

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has intensified its investigation into the 2020 election in Fulton County, Georgia. This move is seen as part of President Trump’s efforts to support his unfounded claims about the election being rigged. An internal memo, obtained by The New York Times, details that 260 FBI investigative analysts have been assigned to this ‘priority’ investigation.

The directive, led by Kash Patel, the director of the FBI, involves completing over 700 records checks. However, the specific nature of these records remains unspecified. This substantial deployment of FBI personnel coincides with the Justice Department’s ongoing criminal investigation in Georgia. Earlier this year, FBI agents conducted a raid on an election warehouse in the county, seizing over 600 boxes of materials, including original ballots from the 2020 election.

The affidavit used for the search warrant in this raid heavily relied on previously debunked claims about voting irregularities. These claims have resurfaced within the White House, driven by Kurt Olsen, a member of the Trump administration known for denying election results. His influence is said to have propelled the current investigation, according to the affidavit.

The 2020 presidential election has undergone extensive scrutiny, with investigations debunking every conspiracy theory from Trump and his allies. These included false allegations about election workers, mail-in ballots, and voting machines. Both Republican and Democratic officials, along with Congress members, judges, and law enforcement, have confirmed the election’s integrity.

Despite these findings, Trump and his supporters continue to promote their baseless allegations. They’ve also pushed for legislative changes through the SAVE America Act, which voting rights advocates argue could restrict access to voting for many Americans.
