First Lady Melania Trump Misses Key Washington Events amid Reported Threats

3 weeks ago 0

In recent days, First Lady Melania Trump was absent from two significant Washington events: Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Both events occurred with President Donald Trump in attendance.

The President participated in both the funeral at Washington National Cathedral, where he delivered remarks, and the dinner on Friday. However, Melania Trump was not present at either event. When questioned by Newsweek, her press office refrained from commenting on her absence from the events.

Prior to this, a White House spokesperson informed Fox News that Melania had a prior commitment, which prevented her from attending the dinner. Following Graham’s passing, she released a statement honoring his dedication to public service. “I am saddened by the unexpected passing of Senator Graham,” Melania said. “Lindsey devoted his life to the service of our nation, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his duties. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his enduring legacy.”

Threat Emerges Amid Questions About First Lady’s Absences

The absence of the First Lady from these events coincides with concerns from the U.S. Secret Service regarding an alleged threat. Agent Nate Herring confirmed to Newsweek that the agency is investigating a video linked to Iran, which targets Melania Trump. “The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” stated Herring.

This video, reported to have circulated through an Iranian state-affiliated media channel, is the latest rhetoric against President Trump and his family during heightened tensions between the U.S. and Tehran. Herring noted, “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”

There is no public link between the First Lady’s absences and the reported threat, and officials have not connected the two issues.
