7 days ago 0

A man in Florida has been arrested following accusations of kidnapping a teenage girl and concealing her inside a clothes dryer at his home in Key Largo. Authorities from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office have charged Christopher Michael Veit, 53, with kidnapping, false imprisonment, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Officers responded to the incident on Miramar Drive around 11:45 a.m. Sunday after the teenager called 911, claiming she was being held captive. Deputies found the girl hidden in a dryer at the scene.

Details of the Incident

The investigation revealed that Veit allegedly restrained the girl before putting her inside the dryer. It was also reported that he took her cellphone when she expressed a desire to leave his home. Fortunately, the victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. She was later released to a family member.

Ongoing Investigation

The authorities indicated that the teenager is not from the Key Largo area, and the nature of her association with Veit is unclear at this time. Evidence suggests an ongoing sexual relationship between Veit and the victim. The Florida Department of Children and Families has been informed about the case.

During the investigation, detectives collected evidence, including counterfeit currency. The U.S. Secret Service has been notified about the discovery of this false money. Additional charges against Veit are being considered as the investigation continues.
