Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser Lindy Li expressed concerns on ‘My View with Lara Trump’ about the financial difficulties facing the Democratic Party. Li highlighted that significant donors are hesitant to support Vice President Kamala Harris in any future presidential campaigns. According to her, the party’s internal divisions and fundraising challenges contribute to a weak field for the 2028 election.
Li mentioned that political donors consider their support a ‘business proposition’ and are unwilling to continue backing candidates or organizations that they feel have mishandled funds. She criticized the handling of post-election evaluations, stating that donor dissatisfaction stems from a lack of accountability and poor management of campaign resources.
During Harris’ campaign and related efforts, approximately $2.5 billion was spent, which included about $1.18 billion from Harris’ principal campaign committee alone in the 2023-24 cycle.
Li argued that the Democratic Party’s shift towards progressive socialism has led to donor alienation and financial instability. She claimed that this leftward drift has caused many former donors, including herself, to withdraw support.
Li also criticized party leaders for yielding to the more progressive members within the party, suggesting that it’s a strategic move by leaders like Sen. Chuck Schumer to avoid internal challenges. She emphasized that American voters had already dismissed these left-leaning policies in the past election cycle.
