Georgia Murder Case: Bartender Found Dismembered in Lake

1 week ago 0

Authorities have charged a Georgia duo with murder after they allegedly killed a bartender and disposed of his dismembered body in a lake. The suspects, identified as Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, were arrested on Monday. They are accused of murdering Jamal Rashad Parker, 37, in a home near Atlanta, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Parker’s remains were discovered in May at the Dog River Reservoir, roughly 30 miles from Atlanta. His identity was confirmed through DNA comparison after his father reported that the tattoos on the body matched his son’s, according to local station WSB-TV.

Investigators suspect the crime occurred in a Douglasville home where Baker resided. Observations late last month showed investigators leaving the residence with a reciprocating saw and cleaning supplies, per WSB-TV. It remains unclear whether Parker was acquainted with his alleged killers. Yet, a GoFundMe page set up by a family member describes them as “people he knew and trusted.”

“I want them to be punished. And I don’t even think a life sentence is good enough,” expressed Charles Parker, the victim’s father, outside the courthouse.

The suspects entered not guilty pleas in court on Tuesday and are being held without bond. Both have extensive criminal records.

On top of his bartending role at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta, Jamal Rashad Parker was described as a musician and visual artist, characterized by his “beautiful soul and spirit,” according to the GoFundMe page organized for burial expenses. “He loved life and the people he met along his journey in life. He was a musical artist, visual artist, and a professional bartender who enjoyed creating new drinks. This has totally devastated our family and friends and has left us heartbroken,” the fundraiser states.
