Intense Showdown for the NXT Championship
Tony D’Angelo faced a formidable challenge at Heatwave, defending the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. The stakes were high as these competitors battled fiercely in pursuit of the coveted title.
The match posed a significant hurdle for D’Angelo’s reign. He didn’t need to be pinned to lose, and the contenders were determined to ascend in the men’s division. Zilla Fatu, making his singles debut, joined the fray alongside Montana, fresh from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), eager to make a mark. Grayson Waller, fighting to reclaim his stature, aimed for victory.
Fierce Competition
The bout was dynamic, with each wrestler striving to prevail. Fatu executed a sharp flying Samoan Spike on D’Angelo, appearing to secure a pin, but Waller intervened, pulling the referee out just before the count of three. Waller, exhausted from absorbing relentless hits, continued his pursuit.
Amid the chaos, Fatu found himself prone on the announcer table after clashing with D’Angelo and Montana. Seizing the opportunity, Waller ascended the turnbuckle, delivering a decisive elbow drop, sending both wrestlers crashing through the table.
Decisive Moment
Back in the ring, D’Angelo and Montana went head-to-head. Montana delivered his signature Spin the Block move on D’Angelo. Waller quickly reentered the ring, used the opening to throw Montana outside, and pinned D’Angelo, clinching victory.
Grayson Waller emerged as the new NXT champion. This marks Waller’s inaugural reign as champion, a significant milestone after years in NXT and winning the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge in 2022.
With this triumph, Waller has firmly established himself in the NXT landscape, delivering on his promise following his return to NXT TV.
