Gilbert Orthodontics is celebrating its tenth anniversary at The Shops on Elm Place in Highland Park. Dr. Josh Gilbert is organizing this celebration and has invited neighboring businesses to join a community event called the End of Summer Party. This event will occur from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 26 at 585 Elm Place.
Dr. Josh Gilbert took over the practice a decade ago from a retiring orthodontist. He sees this milestone as an opportunity to celebrate with the community that has wholeheartedly embraced his practice. By focusing on patient comfort and care, Gilbert has fostered a welcoming atmosphere. Born and raised in Highland Park, he continues to reside there. At the event, attendees will enjoy a DJ, bounce house, and face-painting. Visitors are also encouraged to tour the office for complimentary digital scans to visualize orthodontic outcomes and participate in prize raffles like teeth-whitening services.
The BBQ Pit, a long-standing member of The Shops on Elm Place for 48 years, will delight guests with macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, and brisket sandwiches. Owner Gus Karigan attributes the restaurant’s success to its familial feel, knowing customers by name and providing a unique dining experience as the only barbecue spot in the area. The center’s ample parking and diverse stores add to its appeal.
The Custom Framer, operated by Josh Gordon for six of its 30 years, will set up a photo backdrop for guests to take selfies. During the event, they plan to offer art specials and fun activities for children, which Gordon describes as a tribute to Dr. Gilbert’s 10 years in business. The gathering strengthens community bonds while promoting business collaboration.
Other mall businesses will join the celebration with generous offerings. Joan Barry Hair Designers, a 25-year business, will provide temporary hair spray services. Love’s Yogurt will engage visitors with sidewalk chalking, marking 40 years in operation. Attendees can enjoy circus games at My Sister’s Circus, which has been part of the mall for 29 years, and discounts on merchandise. TREVI Longevity & Aesthetics Institute will offer complementary B-12 shots and IV bags, celebrating 15 years at the location.
Studio Lagree, a 12-year resident, will conduct group class giveaways, and visitors can test their vision with Eye Magic by Michael Scott’s Magnificent Eye Chart Magnification Station, part of the mall for two years. Additionally, ABC Design Jewelers will host complimentary jewelry cleaning and a children’s trunk show. Owner Anat Borochov, having extensive experience in the diamond industry, ensures all work is done on-site, with the in-house jewelers visible to customers. To end the day, an Adult After-Party with music, wine, and cheese will happen at Gabby & Summer Classics, which has also been in the mall for ten years.
