Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark Nears Suspension After Technical Foul

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is on the brink of a one-game suspension after receiving her seventh technical foul of the season. This occurred Wednesday night during a game against the Connecticut Sun.

Late in the third quarter, with the Fever leading 95-67, Olivia Nelson-Ododa was penalized for a foul. Saniya Rivers, Nelson-Ododa’s teammate, began arguing with Clark. In response, Clark gestured at the scoreboard. Officials quickly intervened, issuing technical fouls to both players.

“She said she was locking me up, so I said, ‘Scoreboard,’ and the ref didn’t like that,” Clark said post-game as reported by ESPN.

Despite the looming suspension, Clark insists that she will maintain her aggressive style of play. She emphasizes the importance of balancing intensity with the needs of her team.

“I think just continue to try to control your emotions the best you can. That intensity and that fire is what makes me, me, but also knowing my team needs me and finding a good balance of that. But I don’t think I’m going to be playing with that in the back of my head,” Clark explained.

The Fever secured a victory, defeating the Sun 123-88. Clark contributed significantly with 27 points and 11 assists in only 27 minutes of play, shooting 8-of-13 from the field and making five 3-pointers.

Currently, Clark ranks fourth in scoring, averaging 21 points per game, and holds second place in assists with 7.9 per game. Indiana’s win advances their record to 17-10, placing them fifth in the WNBA standings.

In contrast, Diamond Miller led the Connecticut Sun with 15 points. The Sun’s season record now stands at 7-20.
