Indiana Fever’s Press Conference and Sophie Cunningham’s Comments

2 weeks ago 0

An Indiana Fever representative stopped a question about Sophie Cunningham at a recent postgame press conference in Portland. The reporter was sent by OutKick after the Fever’s 112-98 victory over the Portland Fire. The question involved Cunningham’s statements about transgender athletes in women’s sports.

Aliyah Boston, along with Makayla Timpson and head coach Stephanie White, had just answered a question about handling the team’s increased attention over the seasons. Boston emphasized the importance of focusing on winning games and maintaining professionalism, despite external distractions.

We’ve been professionals long enough to know that if you let that affect you then you’re not really here for the right things.

Right after Boston’s response, the reporter attempted to raise the issue of Cunningham’s views. However, a Fever representative quickly ended the session, which was then edited out of the official YouTube video of the press conference. The Fever did not respond to any requests for comment.

The press conference was notable as Caitlin Clark was unavailable for media comments, even after achieving a fourth career triple-double. This decision aligned with the team’s stance from the previous game, where Clark was also not made available to the media.

The meeting took place amid rallies supporting Cunningham’s stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
