Indianapolis Colts: Alec Pierce Injury Update and Team Adjustments

1 week ago 0

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce re-injured his surgically repaired heel during the match against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. This incident occurred in the first half of the game, leading to Pierce’s early exit as the Colts suffered a 33-30 overtime defeat at Arrowhead Stadium.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Pierce intends to rehabilitate the injury without undergoing another surgery. The 26-year-old athlete is projected to be unavailable for several weeks but might make a comeback for Indianapolis by midseason. Rapoport mentioned, It’s likely that Alec Pierce will head to IR while he recovers. If all goes well, he could recover without surgery. But it’s not a guarantee. Surgery is still possible.

In response to their current situation, Tom Pelissero reported that the Colts are signing veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton. Initially part of the New York Giants, Slayton was released before the season opener. Throughout his seven years with the Giants, he became part of the team with Daniel Jones, now playing QB for the Colts.

Last season, Slayton participated in 14 games, starting in 12. He recorded 37 receptions for 538 yards, contributing one touchdown. With this signing, the Colts aim to boost their lineup after starting the season 0-2.

The Colts seek their first victory in the 2026 season during a Week 3 encounter against the Houston Texans on the upcoming Sunday.
