The New York Giants’ promising start to the NFL season faces challenges, as they assess the injury status of quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart, in his second season, injured his left knee during the initial series of the Monday Night Football clash against the Los Angeles Rams.
Dart got hurt in the first quarter after a collision with Rams defenders. The hit affected his knee, causing it to bend unnaturally. Additionally, wide receiver Malik Nabers left the game briefly, clutching his shoulder after an incomplete pass.
Officially, Dart and Nabers are questionable for return. However, Dart’s comeback seems unlikely. Nabers did return after sitting out a series to rest his shoulder.
Dart’s injury came as his knee buckled. Fortunately, his leg wasn’t planted on the ground at the moment of impact. This reduces the risk of an ACL tear.
An NFL source indicates Dart might have an MCL injury, which would sideline him but not require surgery. Dart was assessed in the medical tent as teammates waited outside. He later walked to the locker room with a noticeable limp.
In Dart’s absence, Jameis Winston stepped in as the backup quarterback.
