When I return to Kansas for the Book Festival in Topeka, I will engage in a cause dear to my heart: celebrating Kansas. My purpose at the event is to discuss the themes from my book, How to Raise a Citizen (and Why It’s Up to You to Do It). I will be joined by esteemed figures such as State Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Rosen and Mr. Beat, a well-known Kansas educator and YouTuber who has educated millions on history through online platforms.
This event emphasizes the pivotal role that education plays in preparing future citizens. Reading and mathematics are fundamental, yet they fit into a broader framework that also encompasses educating youth for active citizenship. In a world where skills in both comprehension and numeracy are vital, the goal is to instill these alongside civic responsibility.
