The intensity peaked seven minutes into the fourth quarter when Clark and Mercury’s DeWanna Bonner clashed during a heated possession. This confrontation reignited animosities from past encounters. Clark maintained her stance, leading to an exchange of words that resulted in her fifth technical foul of the season.

Tensions were high as Bonner’s brief and turbulent tenure as Clark’s teammate in Indiana added fuel to the fire. Prior to the Clark-Bonner incident, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham intervened, directly confronting Bonner, who continued to argue with officials.
Cunningham was later spotted laughing as the situation escalated. Both she and Bonner received technical fouls, adding to the chaos.
The situation further intensified when Mercury star Alyssa Thomas, Bonner’s girlfriend, rushed in to defend her. Indiana forward Myisha Hines-Allen also joined the fray, leading to additional technical fouls. Hines-Allen, having already received a technical earlier, faced ejection after shoving Bonner.
All these altercations transformed the fourth quarter into a drawn-out affair, lasting a lengthy 44 minutes.
Post-game, Clark commented on the officiating and the prolonged game duration, expressing gratitude for the referees’ attention to the fouls. She humorously mentioned the possibility of setting a record for the longest fourth quarter in WNBA history.
Despite the disruptions, Clark emphasized the team’s focus remained on winning. She stated, “Just stay focused on the goals. That’s to win the game.”
