The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate safety systems at Miami International Airport following a tragic plane crash. The aircraft collision with two vehicles led to the death of five people.

On September 7, 2026, NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy emphasized the examination of airport safety during a press briefing in Miami.

A cargo plane branded by Amazon overran the runway on Sunday, striking a van from a local Miami cleaning company. This van was carrying seven individuals.

The incident occurred when the aircraft erupted in flames, resulting in severe consequences.

The NTSB’s investigation will aim to uncover what safety measures might have been lacking or failed, contributing to the crash’s tragic outcome.
