1 week ago 0

Former Iowa news anchor Dustin Nolan addressed the public Monday regarding his viral farewell from KWQC TV6. Nolan emphasized the significance of truth and journalism in his statement, expressing concern over the distortion of his farewell message.

Nolan referred to his final broadcast on KWQC TV6, where he announced his departure from the news industry. He clarified that he had planned his exit months ago with his wife, and the station had posted the job months prior. Nolan stressed he was not criticizing his employers or the industry, nor was he dismissed; he made a personal decision to pursue other dreams.

Nolan criticized publications for misrepresenting his announcement as a stance against journalism. He specifically condemned those using personal details, such as his son’s name, without permission.

Local journalists, Nolan said, strive to make a difference, and society needs strong journalism more than ever. He voiced his appreciation for the supportive messages from the Quad Cities community.

In a follow-up comment, Nolan reiterated his gratitude to viewers and disappointment in how his words were interpreted.

Fox News Digital contacted KWQC TV6 for a response. Nolan joined the station in 2022 and previously received a Mid-America Emmy for Best Morning/Daytime newscast.
