Israel has persisted with military strikes in the Gaza Strip despite agreeing to a ceasefire last October. Israeli forces maintain control over substantial parts of the region. This ongoing conflict comes amid a recent meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on July 28.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has voiced rejection of a 15-point Gaza peace plan presented by President Trump’s Board of Peace. Netanyahu stated that Israel would not withdraw its forces from Gaza until Hamas completely disarms. The Prime Minister made this announcement on Sunday.
Last month, Trump revealed there was progress in his proposals to end the hostilities. Both Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the plan last year, which initiated with the ceasefire. Despite the ongoing conflict, Trump has reported that Hamas has committed to disarming, following its long-term rule over Gaza and the attack it launched on Israel on October 7, 2023, which ignited the current war.
