Jake Paul Considering Shift to NFL After Boxing Losses

Jake Paul, originally known for his YouTube fame, ventured into professional boxing despite facing skepticism. His choice of opponents, primarily retired MMA fighters like Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and even a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, fueled doubts about his seriousness in the sport.

Paul currently holds a 12-2 record in boxing. However, he has only faced three legitimate professional boxers, resulting in losses to Anthony Joshua and Tommy Fury. His single victory was a decision win against 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul’s defeat to Joshua was notably severe, as it led to a broken jaw, raising questions about his future in boxing. The incident has prompted him to explore a potential career shift.

“I have a couple teams and coaches that I’ve already talked to that are interested in bringing me onto the team,” Paul told Front Office Sports. “It’s really going to be quite easy.”

At 29, Paul is eyeing a new path in the NFL. He claims to have had discussions with several teams interested in signing him. His last competitive football experience was over a decade ago at Westlake High School, where he played varsity as a freshman and sophomore before pursuing his entertainment career.

Paul appears confident in his abilities, criticizing current NFL wide receivers and asserting his potential to excel from the onset. He believes his skills, including speed and strength, surpass those of existing players. He states that with practice, he can effectively play as a wide receiver.

Paul’s aspiration includes playing for the Cleveland Browns, a team he has supported since childhood, shared by his mother’s fervent fandom. Despite interest from some teams, NFL insider Benjamin Albright notes that the Denver Broncos have declined to pursue him.
