Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden, criticized Katie Zacharia, President Donald Trump’s new press secretary, during her show. Psaki questioned the validity of Zacharia’s legal qualifications following her inaugural White House briefing. According to Psaki, reports indicate researchers could not verify Zacharia’s admission to a state bar.
Psaki commented, “So where exactly is Katie Zacharia licensed to practice law? It is a weird mystery, right? A potentially fake lawyer? I don’t know. She could answer the questions and provide clarity.”
Katie Zacharia issued a response to the criticism, defending her legal credentials in a statement to Fox News Digital. She stated, “I practiced international transaction law, with all the appropriate credentials.” Zacharia earned her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University in 2011, and the university verified her educational background after her appointment.
Pepperdine University President Jim Gash praised Zacharia, highlighting her extensive experience and gifts. He expressed pride in her achievements and voiced hopes for her future success.
The Republican National Committee spokesperson, Natalie Baldassarre, also defended Zacharia. She criticized Psaki’s television career and her conduct in the White House briefing room, suggesting Psaki was attempting to gain relevance, saying, “Jen Psaki’s doing what she does best — trying to circle back to relevance to save her failing show.” She described Zacharia as a strong supporter of Trump and a capable communicator.
While Psaki expressed nostalgia for Zacharia’s predecessor, her critique of Zacharia’s delivery included mocking remarks about her presentation skills. Psaki commented, “Oh, Katie, Katie, Katie, I am so deeply uncomfortable already, and I’ve watched it multiple times today.”
Following the briefing, President Trump praised Zacharia’s performance. The White House released a statement commending her inaugural briefing, emphasizing her focus on the administration’s priorities, media engagement, and support for working parents.
Katie Zacharia’s first briefing generated extensive coverage, providing a strong introduction to her role as the 37th White House Press Secretary. The statement underscored the Trump Administration’s history of delivering significant achievements for the American public.
