Jennifer Garner revealed she once felt anxious about her financial future following her divorce from Ben Affleck. During the “Aspire with Emma Grede” podcast, Garner discussed her initial concerns about supporting herself and her three children after ending her marriage.
“I panicked when I was first out of my marriage,” Garner admitted. She shared her fear of being unable to work long-term, explaining, “I realized I had taken such a step back in my work. Suddenly, the need to support myself and my kids hit hard.”
Garner indicated she couldn’t spend extended periods away from Los Angeles for film projects due to parenting responsibilities. “I can’t leave these kids for six months,” she said. Despite her love for on-location work, her career had to adjust to her personal life.
Garner and Affleck began their relationship after meeting on the set of “Pearl Harbor” in 2001. They married in 2005 and eventually separated in 2015. Reflecting on her career and family, Garner expressed gratitude for having had time at home, balancing work and motherhood. “I was lucky to have the best of both worlds,” she said.
In 2017, Garner co-founded Once Upon A Farm, an organic children’s food company. She emphasized that fame doesn’t equate to financial security. “Life is expensive, and you still have to figure out how to live,” she noted. Garner highlighted the importance of being a provider.
She also talked about the shift in family dynamics post-divorce, sharing the concept of taking on dual parenting roles with Affleck. “When your kids grow up in two separate households, roles blur,” Garner said. She embraced the imperfections in her new reality, focusing on reassurance for her children.
Garner’s reflections underline her journey of resilience and adaptation, as she navigated personal challenges while balancing career and family life.
