Judge Judy Announces Her Transition from Television and Introduces Son’s New Show

3 weeks ago 0

Judge Judy Sheindlin, renowned for her courtroom prowess, is preparing to transition from television.

According to a representative, Judge Judy is handing over her responsibilities to her son, Adam Levy, in ‘Adam’s Law’, the legal program she created. She will serve as executive producer of the show. This new program is set to premiere in national syndication on Monday, September 14.

Judge Judy is not retiring, merely reshaping her focus.

In an interview with People, the 83-year-old judge revealed her plans to leave her television work after the conclusion of her Prime Video series, Judy Justice, which wraps up in October. She expressed her desire to pursue other interests, sharing, I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there.

Adam Levy, her son, is embarking on his own television journey with a show titled ‘Adam’s Law.’ Levy, a graduate of Hofstra Law School, initially ventured into ski instruction before pursuing a legal career. He served as the District Attorney in Putnam County, NY, and launched his television career with Tribunal Justice on Prime Video in 2023.

Judge Judy has full confidence in her son’s ability to capture an audience, noting, There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted. He has what it takes.

Judy Sheindlin, who graduated from New York Law School in 1965, began her career as a prosecutor, focusing on juvenile crime, domestic violence, and child-abuse cases. Her transition into television came after retiring from family court, launching the widely successful Judge Judy, which aired from 1996 to 2021. This show captivated nearly 10 million viewers at its peak.

Her no-nonsense approach and memorable one-liners became staples of her courtroom persona. Sheindlin herself acknowledged the show’s impact, telling the LA Times in June 2021, So many of the emails and letters I get are from women who watched me and had their daughters watch me. They told me the show helped them take the next step, whether it was getting a divorce, leaving an abusive person, asking for a raise and never, ever becoming somebody’s prisoner.

Reflecting on her granddaughter Sarah Rose’s remarks, Sheindlin not only taught lessons through television but imparted wisdom to her family. Sarah cherished her grandmother’s advice, including the idea that you have to define yourself, and you tell other people who you are. Not the other way around.

Sarah emphasized that her grandmother’s teachings of self-confidence and personal integrity provide endless opportunities. I’ve always taken that to heart. No matter what anyone else’s opinions, feelings or thoughts are, I just know that I’m secure in myself. And she’s playing a big role in that, she said.

Though Sarah describes her as a no-nonsense grandmother, she is quick to highlight her softer, supportive side. She’s a fantastic problem solver, especially for the ones that she loves, Sarah added.

Sheindlin’s influence, both on and off-screen, continues to resonate with viewers and family alike.
