Justin Baldoni Discusses Gratitude Amid Legal Battle

Justin Baldoni has shared a video on Instagram alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, discussing the role of gratitude during their recent legal dispute. Baldoni claimed gratitude had been crucial during challenging times. The video emerges over a year since Blake Lively accused him of sexual harassment during the production of ‘It Ends With Us’, a film Baldoni directed and co-starred in. Additionally, Lively alleged retaliation from Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, following her complaints about misconduct.

U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed several of Lively’s claims, including harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. Liman ruled these claims could not proceed under federal civil rights law, as Lively was considered an independent contractor, not an employee. However, three allegations remained: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation. Both parties reached a settlement before the anticipated trial.

Despite the video, Lively’s representatives have not commented. Baldoni refrained from discussing specific details concerning Lively or the film, focusing instead on personal impacts. His statement highlighted the noise created by the dispute yet emphasized the importance of letting the justice system function independently.

Emily Baldoni reiterated that gratitude does not negate the injustice and pain experienced. She discussed the difficulty their family faced, trying to comprehend the situation, which seemed disguised as a fight for women. Lively initially brought her allegations to light in December 2024, months after the film’s release, and eventually filed a federal lawsuit. The case brought significant attention to Hollywood, revealing exchanges between celebrities and studio discussions typically kept private.

Baldoni, known for his role in ‘Jane the Virgin’, has largely remained out of the spotlight, communicating through legal channels. Living in Nashville, Tennessee, he hasn’t announced new projects since the lawsuit’s filing. Prior to this recent video, his last Instagram update was in June 2025, celebrating his anniversary.

In January 2025, Baldoni countersued Lively and Ryan Reynolds for defamation and extortion. He claimed they intended to ruin his reputation, with Lively allegedly using her grievances to attempt control of the movie. Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni’s case, permitting Lively to pursue financial damages under California Civil Code Section 47.1, protecting those reporting sexual misconduct from defamatory retaliation. Lively’s team demands reimbursement totaling over $8 million for legal fees and expenses, with Baldoni having until Monday to respond.

In the video, the Baldonis expressed gratitude to their supporters. ‘Thank you does not feel like enough’, Justin stated, acknowledging their reliance on friends and family during difficult times. Emily hinted at more to discuss but emphasized their current focus on healing and spending time with their children.
