Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily recently addressed the legal drama involving Blake Lively that began two years ago. In an Instagram video, Justin shared the couple’s experiences with what they describe as ‘injustice’ and ‘trauma’ during this period.
We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say,
Justin stated, explaining the timing of their disclosure. Emily added that this moment felt right to speak out, highlighting two years filled with challenges surrounding the controversy.
The situation originated during the production of the 2024 movie ‘It Ends With Us.’ Tensions became apparent during the film’s press tour when Justin promoted the movie separately from Lively and other cast members. In December 2024, Blake Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on set, leading to a series of defamation lawsuits between both parties.
The public legal battle involved the release of text messages, subpoenas, and other court filings. Ultimately, Lively and Baldoni reached a confidential settlement without admitting wrongdoing or paying damages. Currently, Lively seeks approximately $8 million in attorney fees, which Baldoni contests.
In their discussion, Justin emphasized the ‘immense gratitude’ they feel towards supportive individuals throughout the ordeal. Emily echoed this sentiment but acknowledged the ‘injustice and pain’ experienced during the last few years. They expressed difficulty in processing the situation, noting how it masqueraded as a women’s rights issue.
The couple highlighted the trauma and complexity of the matter, with Justin reiterating their desire not to contribute further to the noise, instead relying on the justice system. Emily asserted that ‘the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.’
On the subject of healing, Justin outlined how trauma recovery is uncertain and varies daily. He emphasized the importance of family, friends, community, and faith, which have provided support through troubled times.
As a result of the challenges faced, Justin and Emily feel they have grown closer and stronger in their faith. Viewers were thanked for their support and discernment during this journey.
The video concluded with reflections on love and recovery. Justin noted that when everything is stripped away, love prevails, contributing to their path to healing. Emily focused on healing and spending time with their children.
Though the legal battle is largely concluded, it remains a subject of interest due to its effects on the movie industry, the individuals involved, and the broader discourse on workplace conduct.
