Kai Trump, President Trump’s eldest grandchild, recently underwent wrist surgery following a golf-related injury. The 19-year-old shared an update on Instagram, showcasing her arm in a cast and sling after the successful procedure.
Kai is a competitive golfer on the University of Miami women’s golf team. She sustained the injury during her first tournament this season. In her statement, she expressed that the decision for surgery, made after consulting her family, coaches, and athletic trainers, was necessary for her long-term health.
“While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love,” she said.
Kai is optimistic about her recovery, acknowledging the unexpected turn her journey has taken. She is committed to facing the challenge with patience and determination.
“It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination,” she added.
The athlete appreciates her support network, emphasizing the importance of having encouraging people around her. She thanked the medical professionals at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, where she received treatment.
“A special thank you to Dr. Carlson and the incredible team at HSS in New York for taking such great care of me, and to my teammates, coaches, family, and everyone who has supported me along the way,” Kai expressed.
In a prior appearance on “Fox & Friends” in July, Kai mentioned undergoing wrist surgery six months earlier. She also discussed her initial apprehensions about starting her freshman year and Division I golf career at the University of Miami.
“[I’m] a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie, but I’m ready for the next chapter,” she admitted.
Kai’s competitive spirit is inspired by her mother and grandfather. This family influence plays a significant role in her drive to succeed.
“My mom’s competitive, too, but definitely Grandpa’s very competitive,” she mentioned.
