Former Vice President Kamala Harris charged Republicans with “cheating” during a Thursday interview, expressing her dedication to assisting Democrats in the midterm elections. She emphasized that the upcoming elections are her main focus.
“Midterms occupy my thoughts. We must win these elections. Some are redrawing lines and trying to make voting difficult due to their fear of people’s power,” Harris stated. She was speaking on Megan Rapinoe’s podcast, “What Are You Like?”
Harris stressed her commitment to restoring balance in government by regaining control of Congress. “Winning the House and Senate in the midterms can halt the current chaos,” she said.
Rapinoe, a former women’s soccer star, inquired what prompted Harris to reenter public service. “I don’t know how to live without serving. It’s clear to me that my life’s work is about moving the needle,” Harris replied.
Harris aims to restore a sense of sanity and create a functional government. Ally Triolo, from the RNC, responded by asserting that voter ID and proof of citizenship are vital, and accused Democrats of needing to cheat to win elections.
Additionally, Rapinoe asked about Harris’s thoughts on running in 2028. Harris said, “I haven’t decided. 2028 won’t matter if we don’t win in 2026.”
In a prior interview, Harris supported Democrats who preferred she not join their campaign trails if it increased their chances of winning. She stated, “We must win. Candidates know what’s required, and I support their strategies.” She highlighted the need for measures to lower costs and enhance healthcare affordability.
Rapinoe shared her experiences as a female athlete, noting significant progress in women’s sports which has faced setbacks in equal rights. “For years, discussing women’s issues was discouraged,” Rapinoe said. “Now, we’ve proven ourselves but still face barriers.”
