Kane Defends Teammate Bellingham and Coach Tuchel Amid Media Criticism

England captain Harry Kane has downplayed any controversy stemming from coach Thomas Tuchel’s comments after Jude Bellingham reacted to the manager’s critique of England’s “sloppy” 2-1 victory over Norway. Kane dismissed the speculation, asserting that the media is attempting to create discord within the team.

Kane’s remarks came ahead of England’s World Cup semifinal against Argentina, scheduled to take place in Atlanta. He critiqued reports of unrest within the team, accusing the media of trying to disrupt harmony in the England camp.

“When you’re asked a question immediately after the game, and Jude hadn’t fully understood what was said, what was he supposed to say?” Kane remarked, according to BBC Sport.

England’s hard-fought 2-1 extra-time win over Norway occurred in the intense Miami heat. Bellingham emerged as the hero, scoring both of England’s goals, including a last-minute winner. Following the match, Tuchel expressed dissatisfaction despite the victory.

“The result is fantastic. We’re in the last four… but not happy with the performance, in every sense,” Tuchel told television cameras. “Sloppy, lot of technical mistakes, not fast enough… We were lucky today.”

Bellingham, 23, responded to Tuchel’s comments, acknowledging the challenge of playing in such conditions. “Maybe he doesn’t know what it’s like to play against a team like that,” Bellingham said, referring to Norway’s key players like Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.
