Ruemmler, who resigned earlier this year amid revelations about her ties to the sex offender, acknowledged sharing advice with Epstein, accepting gifts, and occasionally exchanging casual emails. In her opening statement, she expressed regret over how Epstein exploited her and others to bolster his reputation. She noted that Epstein often exaggerated their connection.

Reputation Impact on Wall Street

Ruemmler’s career, like others on Wall Street, suffered due to her association with Epstein. She resigned from Goldman Sachs, where she earned $25 million annually, following the release of emails by the Justice Department. These communications showed a more personal and extensive relationship with Epstein, including casual interactions and advice on his legal troubles.

The disclosed emails revealed that Ruemmler had engaged socially with Epstein and offered guidance on managing past allegations related to his 2008 guilty plea in Florida for soliciting sex from a minor. Her connection with Epstein began in the summer of 2014 after she transitioned from her role as White House counsel during the Obama administration to a leadership position in white-collar defense at Latham & Watkins.
