LeBron’s Gesture for Nelly Korda
LeBron James presented Nelly Korda with a custom pair of golf shoes for the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club. However, they didn’t meet her expectations.
Korda’s Opening Round
Korda’s tournament began with a mixed performance. Starting on the back nine, she made par on the challenging par-4 10th hole, followed by a birdie on the 11th, then hit consecutive bogeys.
After six holes, Korda was at 1-over par. She decided to change from her custom LeBron shoes to her regular Nike golf shoes. Golf Channel’s Amy Rodgers reported that the LeBron shoes were “a little bit too loose,” which might have affected her swing.
Trainer Intervenes
Korda’s trainer, observing from outside the ropes, fetched her usual golf shoes from the locker room and made the switch on the 16th hole. She then made par on the 16th and turned at 1-over par.
Social Media Exchange
On Wednesday, Korda shared a picture of the custom shoes on her Instagram, thanking James for the gift. James replied by wishing her luck in the major championships.
LeBron’s Interest in Golf
James has shown increasing enthusiasm for golf, appearing in YouTube videos and discussing the sport during NBA press conferences. He also shares videos of himself golfing during the NBA offseason.
Korda’s Tournament Predictions
Korda entered the tournament as a favorite, aiming for her first U.S. Women’s Open win. She has won three tournaments in 2026 and has three second-place finishes in seven starts this season.
