Lionel Richie was admitted to a hospital in St. Louis on Monday following his performance at The Muny in Forest Park over the weekend. Specific details regarding his hospitalization were not immediately clear.
The 77-year-old singer has faced several health issues during the summer, leading to the cancellation of multiple shows. Despite these challenges, Richie reassured his fans in July, stating online, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
One week before, Richie had to postpone shows due to feeling dizzy during his tour’s opening in Minnesota. The United Center announced that his planned performances in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio would be postponed following doctors’ advice.
An Instagram post explained, “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows.” The post also mentioned Richie’s disappointment in postponing the concerts and eagerness to return to the stage.
The St. Paul Fire Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that an individual was transported from Grand Casino Arena to a local hospital on June 24, 2026, by Saint Paul Fire-EMS. Richie, serving as an “American Idol” judge for nine seasons, was nearly an hour into his performance at the Grand Casino Arena when fans noticed a change.
While performing “Dancing on the Ceiling,” Richie paused and sat on a platform. He later informed the audience about his lightheadedness, joking, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your a– down.”
