The campaign of Graham Platner for the Senate in Maine has been thrown into chaos following a rape allegation. This development has created rifts within the Democratic Party, as progressives and moderates scramble to nominate a successor even before Platner has decided to step aside.

The Democratic landscape is fraught with tension as national figures in the party become concerned about losing control of a critical Senate seat.
