Marco Rubio Discusses UAPs and Government Transparency

Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the topic of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in a recent interview, acknowledging public interest in these mysterious occurrences. He emphasized that if the administration had concrete information, President Donald Trump would address it openly, possibly through a primetime broadcast showcasing relevant evidence.

During an appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” Rubio was questioned about conspiracy theories, to which he responded by discussing UAPs. However, he clarified that he does not view UAPs as a conspiracy theory. Rubio noted his long-standing interest in UAPs since serving in the Senate, stating, “I don’t know who it is. I don’t know what it is, but there are things flying over our military installations, and they’re not ours, and we should take this seriously.”

“So, I don’t call it a conspiracy. I don’t know the answer to any of it. I’m just asking questions about what’s flying over our airspace,” Rubio said. “If the President knew, there would be a primetime address displaying all available pictures and videos.”

In 2026, the Pentagon released several UAP videos, underscoring the government’s transparency on the issue. A White House spokeswoman, Anna Kelly, highlighted President Trump’s directive to declassify documents related to alien life and unidentified aerial phenomena, prioritizing public access to information.

Rubio admitted to using UAPs as a distraction during his Senate tenure, although he emphasized its significance as a topic for public discourse. He acknowledged the tactic’s effectiveness but insisted on the necessity of addressing UAPs seriously.

“President Trump waived nondisclosure agreements to allow former government employees and contractors to share information on UAP investigations,” a senior administration official noted, explaining that this effort aimed at enhancing transparency without declassifying information directly.

Officials have reported that past inquiries and newly declassified records led to questions about the reluctance of potential witnesses, influenced by nondisclosure agreements. These constraints previously limited their cooperation in UAP investigations.

Joshua Golembeske, Lead UFO Investigator for Gaia, commended Rubio’s role in facilitating UAP reporting, although he critiqued the use of diversionary tactics. Golembeske shared concerns over communication within government circles, referencing intelligence whistleblower David Grusch’s claims about restricted access to UAP data.

Golembeske argued that Rubio’s statements on the podcast reflected the challenges in overcoming the stigma associated with UAP sightings. He questioned whether President Trump would always be informed about significant findings due to confidentiality measures within intelligence programs.
