Mass Shooting in Twin Falls: Details and Investigation

A mass shooting in Twin Falls, Idaho, occurred at a fast food restaurant, resulting in three fatalities and seven injuries. Victims included a driver charging his electric taxi and a former law enforcement officer who attempted intervention. The shooter, identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, ended his attack by taking his own life.

The incident happened at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, a bustling area with shoppers present. Authorities are investigating the motives behind Williams’ actions. Limited details are available regarding Williams’ life; searches in Idaho and Arizona court records revealed no matching criminal cases.

“I’m shocked by this and sick to my stomach about this,” said Elijah Moseley, a former college neighbor of Williams, describing him as an introvert and a ‘chill guy.’ Moseley lost contact with Williams a few years prior to the incident.

Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that Williams acted alone. His family is cooperating fully with investigators. Among the wounded victims, two were discharged from the hospital, three were stable, and two remain critical.

An off-duty state trooper and a civilian intervened during the attack to divert Williams from the restaurant, although their identities remain undisclosed. Additionally, police are working to identify all victims for notifying next of kin.

A vigil is scheduled at Twin Falls City Park. Among those killed was an In-N-Out employee, as confirmed by the fast-food chain’s owner, Lynsi Snyder. Christopher Claunch, killed in the shooting, was a recovering alcoholic who dedicated his life to helping others. He completed rehab at Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center and found purpose in aiding others in sobriety, according to his friend Garren Taylor.

Marcus Scott’s Facebook post revealed his son Austin “A.J.” Scott was injured while trying to protect others. Formerly a law enforcement officer, A.J. Scott faces a long recovery. Terry Dudley, a taxi driver, sustained serious injuries while charging a vehicle. He contacted his employer, James Palmer, after being unable to reach emergency services.

Chad Williams attended the College of Southern Idaho, leaving before graduation. He served briefly in student government but was impeached due to lack of engagement. The college’s president confirmed his attendance but not his completion of a degree or certificate.
