A shooting incident in a downtown Minneapolis apartment building resulted in three fatalities, including the suspect, and left five others injured, three of whom were Minneapolis police officers.
Reports indicate the alleged suspect was facing eviction for threatening other residents with a gun. Authorities have yet to disclose the shooter’s identity. However, local news sources KTSP and Fox 9, referencing witnesses and unnamed sources, identified the suspect as Carlton Johnson II.
Johnson was undergoing eviction from a unit on the 9th floor of the building. Records obtained by KTSP reveal that a court hearing concerning this eviction was scheduled for September 11.
The management of the Loring Tower building had filed a complaint against Johnson. The complaint mentioned that his lease was supposed to end in June after he allegedly assaulted a resident, displayed a firearm, and issued threats to residents.
