The recent removal of Brittany Boltinhouse’s Miss North Carolina USA crown has sparked debate, clarifying that the decision was not influenced by her conservative politics or Christian beliefs. The pageant’s organizing body, A Blaize Productions, emphasized that their decision stemmed from Boltinhouse’s past online statements, regarded as objectionable.

These resurfaced messages involved the use of the N-word, which did not align with the expected standards of a pageant titleholder.

Miss USA President Thom Brodeur highlighted their zero-tolerance policy against racism, homophobia, and transphobia. According to the pageant’s standards, titleholders hold positions of trust and must adhere to a code of conduct.

With Boltinhouse’s title removed, first runner-up Myla Hadley will now represent North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant in Miami.
