Maxwell Jacob Friedman, known as MJF, made a striking return to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on Wednesday night during the Grand Slam Mexico event. His reappearance marked a significant moment as he attacked Andrade El Idolo, who had recently won a triple-threat match.
“The Triple B AEW World Championship is the only ‘true’ title,” MJF declared.
In his surprise appearance, MJF confiscated both the AEW World Championship belt and the Dynamite Diamond Ring from Andrade, leaving him injured in the ring. This confrontation served as a powerful statement to the AEW roster.
MJF is set on reclaiming the championship title from current champion Kenny Omega. He announced plans to enter and triumph in the upcoming casino gauntlet match at the All In event later this month.
He stated, “Next week we’re in Vegas and I’m feeling lucky. There is a gauntlet qualifying match for the casino gauntlet match at All In for the No. 2 spot. I am going to enter that match. I am going to win that match.”
MJF’s confidence is not unfounded. He had previously won the casino gauntlet match at last year’s All In event in Texas. That victory earned him a title challenge against Adam Page at the Forbidden Door. Although MJF lost the title to Darby Allin, he reclaimed it at the Double or Nothing event earlier this year.
MJF is on a mission to redeem his loss against Omega, who defeated him at July’s AEW Dynamite: Beach Break. With his sights set on a fourth championship reign, MJF’s ambitions are clear as he prepares for the casino gauntlet match that could once again pave his path to glory.
